Florida Fellowship of Community Churches
ICCC Congregations in the Sunshine State

The Florida Fellowship of Community Churches is an association of autonomous Christian Churches and Ministry Centers in the Sunshine State affiliated with the International Council of Community Churches.

The Florida Fellowship of Community Churches has no staff or headquarters location. We are clergy and laity of several different congregations and minsitry centers who gather periodically for Christian fellowship, prayer, learning, and strengthening of our participation in the ecumenical and interracial ministry of the International Council of Community Churches.

Our Fellowship is open to any Christian congregation or center for ministry that shares our passion for ecumenical, interracial cooperation and ministry on the local, national, and international level, as experienced through our participation in the International Council of Community Churches.

Report of the April 20 FFCC Meeting:

Megan Mellon presented a proposal for an FFCC Gathering for Youth, Grades 8 – 12 at Chapel by the Sea on August 14-15. The event would begin with lunch on Saturday 8/14 and end after lunch on Sunday, 8/15. There would be a Christian comedienne or other fun entertainment, a cook out, DJ, fire gathering, group camp-out in the church. Discussion included…The emphasis would be on Fellowship and Faithfulness: Fellowship – you’re not the only Christian teenager, meet others; Faithfulness – stay the course in your Christian walk. More details to come.

The cost is estimated at $25 per attendee. That covers all food, entertainment, speaker, DJ.  Discussion included… A motion for FFCC to support this event with a $10 scholarship per attendee up to $500 carried. And a conversation with and encouragement for individual churches to further support the financial commitment with their teens followed.

GOAL: the event would be highly successful if 50 teens attended. Project supported by those in attendance, but Megan Mellon will contact other congregations to see if interest is enough to follow through with and invest in booking entertainment. Expect to hear from her if you were not able to attend the April meeting! Attendees would be involved in FFCC churches, but not open to friends and friends of friends this first time.

Reports of ICCC and Other Associations:

Ted Fielland reported on his attendance/participation at the National Workshop on Christian Unity, the discussion as pertained reference to CUCY. FFCC provides us an opportunity to be in these larger, ecumenical, state-wide conversations and ministries. Suggest contacting Ted for concise update.

Herb Freitag reported on recent announcements from ICCC being confident that an evaluation of current needs will be enfolded in the future leadership/employment. He also encouraged participation at the national convention this summer reporting on fund-raising by the young people at Clearwater Beach Community Church.

Date and Location of Next Meeting:

Summer is so difficult to get everyone together and with encouragement to attend the national conference, we set the next meeting of Florida Fellowship of Community Churches for September 28th at 10:30a.m. at Temple Terrace and anticipate great barbeque following!
